Learn about the do's and don'ts of the Victorian era! The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Museum cordially invites you to "Mind Your Manners: Navigating Social Hazards in the Victorian Era". Victorians took manners to an extreme level, and your social status – but above all, your conduct – could determine your fate in life. By examining objects in the Grundy Museum, particularly an exhibit of newly restored clothing, you’ll learn how to avoid the terrifying prospect of “social ruin” that befell many a man and woman of the day. Guests are encouraged to bring a calling card reflecting their good taste!
Our textile exhibit will be open during this event. "They Wore It Well" is an exhibit funded in part by Visit Bucks County and the Grundy Foundation CanDoMore donors. A few items of Grundy family clothing has been restored and one ensemble has been reproduced. These pieces will be on exhibit as well as accessories and other items from our collections.
Please join the staff of the Museum and John Whitenight, Curatorial Consultant to the Grundy Museum. Light refreshments will be served on South Lawn of the Museum and a lovely gift wil be given to all attendees! We hope you can join us for this special event.
